Dear Beloved Brethren and Prayer Partners,
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (Psalm 27:14)
There is a profound, if sometimes difficult, spiritual discipline in the simple act of waiting. We are, by nature and by cultural conditioning, a people who demand immediate results, predictable schedules, and the illusion of absolute control over our circumstances. Yet, the Lord, in His infinite wisdom and unyielding authority, often brings us to seasons where our only reasonable posture is to wait upon Him. It is in the waiting room of life that the Great Physician does some of His most delicate work upon our hearts, stripping away our self-reliance and cultivating a courageous trust that can only be found in the shadow of His wings. As we close out the winter months and look toward the spring, we are being intimately acquainted with this truth.
Family Matters: The Waiting Room of Grace
As February gives way to March, our home is blanketed in a state of continued, eager anticipation for the birth of our fourth child, Moriah Lynn. Historically, my wife, Kristin, has been remarkably punctual with regards to her projected due dates. However, this pregnancy has chosen a different path, serving as a gentle but firm reminder that there are simply no certainties when it comes to the intricate, miraculous unfolding of human life. Our times are entirely in the Lord’s hands.
To compound the natural weariness of these delayed days, a persistent head cold has swept through our home, laying low myself and our three older children. It is a minor difficulty in the grand scheme of things, but the combination of bodily sickness, the disruption of routine, and the heightened state of readiness for a new baby has made for truly interesting days. We are starkly reminded of our own frailty. Yet, even in the midst of coughs and sleepless nights, there is a quiet grace. We ask that you continue to pray with us for Kristin’s continued health, the safe arrival of Moriah Lynn, and the swift restoration of our household’s physical strength.
Local Ministry: The Dignity of the Personal Touch
The work of planting a church in the hard soil of George County requires a sustained, deliberate, and often unglamorous faithfulness. During the months of January and February, we undertook the labor of sending out over 1,300 direct mailers to homes across the county. In an age of mass, automated digital communication, we made the intentional decision to hand-address every single envelope, writing out the specific name and address of each recipient.
From a purely statistical, worldly viewpoint, the immediate return on this substantial investment of time might seem disproportionately small, we have, thus far, welcomed one visitor as a direct result of this labor. However, we do not measure the value of the Gospel by the immediate metrics of the marketplace. When individuals receive these mailers, the overwhelming response from those we have spoken with is a profound appreciation for the personal touch. In a society that increasingly treats people as data points or consumers, the simple act of a hand-written name conveys a dignity and a genuine care that strikes a chord. They often remark that it felt as though a personal letter had been written directly to their home. We will continue to cast this seed, trusting that the Lord of the harvest will honor the careful, personal presentation of His word.
Expanding the Public Square: Second Saturday in Lucedale
As we continue our mailing ministry, we are also preparing to expand our public footprint. By the second Saturday of March, we will initiate our newest form of outreach by securing a booth at Lucedale’s monthly “Second Saturday” event. Throughout certain months of the year, thousands of individuals and families pass through downtown Lucedale to interact with local businesses and craftsmen.
We view this as a strategic opportunity to set the light of the Gospel on a hill amidst the bustling commerce and casual weekend traffic. At our disposal for this event, we have prepared an arsenal of truth: 2,000 John and Romans, numerous Gospel tracts and Church Invitations, 100 copies of the Lamb of God, 100 copies of The Gospel of Jesus Christ, nearly 200 copies of the New Testament, and finally, 50 copies of our newest published book. Please pray that as the crowds walk the streets of downtown Lucedale, the Lord would direct the steps of seeking souls to our booth, and that the literature distributed would be a quiet, enduring witness in their homes.
A New Publication: The Preacher, His Life and Work
I am particularly excited to make available, both at our upcoming outreach and to the broader Christian public, a new literary labor. We live in an hour characterized by a terminal casualness, an age that has mistaken sloppiness for sincerity and has largely forgotten the inherent dignity of the Christian life. In our rush to be “relatable,” the modern church has often ceased to be reverent, and the results are painfully obtrusive in our pews and our pulpits alike.
It is with a sincere desire to see this reverence restored that I recently completed a new project: a Student Edition of John Henry Jowett’s masterpiece, The Preacher: His Life and Work. The Apostle Paul exhorted the believers at Ephesus to “walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called” (Ephesians 4:1). Whether one is called to the specific work of the bishop or the daily service of the body of Christ, we are all summoned to a life of disciplined, courageous, and faithful stewardship.
Jowett’s work has long stood as a monumental peak in my own library, offering a rare combination of a surgeon’s diagnostic precision and a shepherd’s restorative warmth. My primary burden in preparing this edition was to provide a robust training tool for young men who are serious about serving Jesus Christ. To this end, I have added a Student Edition Analysis and a series of Practical Steps at the conclusion of each lecture, designed to help the reader move from admiration to action, fulfilling the mandate of 2 Timothy 2:15 to “study to shew thyself approved unto God.” This book is not only a manual for the pulpit; it is a mirror for every serious Christian who desires to strip away the accidental and trivial from their life to reveal the essential glory of walking with God.
The Luganda Bible Project: A Steady Light
Finally, we must continually lift up the vital, ongoing work of the Luganda Bible Project. The translators continue to faithfully labor, day by day, verse by verse, to bring the Buganda people the pure word of God in their native Luganda language. The magnitude of this undertaking cannot be overstated, nor can the spiritual opposition it undoubtedly faces. Please continue to pray for the mental clarity, physical stamina, and spiritual protection of every translator involved in this historic endeavor.
Stewardship and Gratitude
As we navigate the delays of pregnancy, the minor trials of physical illness, and the demanding, joyful labor of the ministry, we are constantly reminded of the profound grace of your partnership. Your prayers sustain us when the soil feels impenetrably hard, and your financial support provides the very tools: the Bibles, the tracts, the mailers, that we place into the hands of the lost. We recognize God’s absolute authority over every aspect of this work, and we view your support as a sacred trust. Thank you for standing with us, for praying for us, and for sharing in the burden and the blessing of the Gospel in George County and beyond.
Earnest Prayer Requests

- Household Health: Pray for the swift recovery of myself and our three older children from this wearying head cold.
- Local Outreach: Pray for the continued impact of our personal mailers, that the hand-written envelopes would open doors for Gospel conversations.
